Linn Goes to Faire Scarborough!
Little Linn, last of Mariah's brood to fledge in 2007, is sitting pretty in Scarborough, an eastern suburb of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. She's been there since at least this past November according to a note from Mark Nash of the Canadian Peregrine Foundation that's been published in Imprints, the Rochester Falconcam's blog (or online journal, as they prefer to call it.)
Poor viewing conditions prevented a positive ID until this past week. That's when CPF volunteer Bruce Massey got a good look at Linn's leg band (black/green 91/*V). The CPF website has pictures and a description of the November sightings (scroll down a bit from the top of the page to find the Scarborough section), and I suspect they'll update the page with the great news soon.
For those who don't remember the 2007 brood's history, Linn was the last eyas to hatch, and the last to fledge as well. After a shaky first flight, she grew into a standout fledgling.
She was named for Linn Pierson, a naturalist with the New Jersey Div. of Fish and Wildlife (the equivalent to the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation). Linn was an outspoken advocate for Peregrines and the conservation of their habitats, as well as a gifted teacher and writer (check out her 2006 Nestbox News for proof). Linn lost her battle with lung cancer shortly before the 2007 Falconcam went live. She didn't get to see what a magnificent flier her namesake became, but I'm certain she'd be happy to know that Linn the falcon is thriving, boldly carving out a territory of her own.
Here's a selection of pictures of Linn from last June and July:
If Linn stays on the building she's claimed, it's likely the CPF folks will be able to get a good picture of her. I know that some of the watchers are planning a trip to Toronto in February, so maybe we'll have some new shots of her to admire in the near future.

Great news! I love to see evidence that they are alive and well.
